The order suspending the petitioner does not suffer from any illegality or perversity. We find that this is not a fit case to interfere. There is no merit in the petition and the same is dismissed," the HC said.
Ramadas was accused of participating in a protest march in New Delhi against the central government's "anti-student policies" and for urging people to watch "Ram Ke Naam" documentary during the Ayodhya Ram temple consecration ceremony.
The Bombay High Court has dismissed a petition filed by Dalit PhD student Ramadas K S challenging his two-year suspension from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS) in Mumbai for alleged misconduct and anti-national activities.
Ramadas was suspended in April 2024 after participating in a protest march in New Delhi against the central government's policies and for promoting the documentary 'Ram Ke Naam' during the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.
In his plea, Ramadas claimed that his suspension was unlawful and had led to the stoppage of his scholarship, causing him financial difficulties. TISS countered that he had alternative remedies available within the institute's appeal mechanisms.
The court found no merit in Ramadas's petition and upheld the institute's decision, emphasizing the availability of internal appeal processes.
This case underscores the complexities surrounding student activism and institutional regulations within academic environments.
