GMCH Introduces Dedicated Night-Time Vehicle Service for Female Doctors

The Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) has announced a new plan to protect its female doctors during night shifts. This shows that healthcare facilities need to tighten their safety steps even more. This is in reaction to a terrible event that happened at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata and has made many people worry about the safety of healthcare workers who stay late.
From August 17, GMCH will offer a special car service for female doctors who work at night. This project is more than just a practical way to solve a problem; it's a promise to make the workplace safer for people who care for others. The choice is part of a larger plan to address safety issues and make the workplace better for all medical staff.
To get from one part of the hospital to another, like the main hospital site, the Superspecialty Hospital, the CN Centre, or Hostel No. 3, female doctors can now call the on-duty casualty officer. This cop will get a car to pick them up and make sure they have a female security guard with them the whole way. The service will be open from 9 PM to 7 AM, which includes all night jobs, which is when there is the most need for security.
The goal of this new procedure is to address the real and important issues that female doctors face during night shifts. The hospital hopes that the security guard will add an extra layer of safety so that these important workers can focus on their jobs without having to worry about anything else.
A top doctor at GMCH named Dr. Ananya Sharma talked about her thoughts on the new plan. "It's nice to know that our safety is a top priority." It can be hard to work the night shift, so knowing that there is a specialised transport service with extra safety measures gives us peace of mind. Because of this, we can focus on our patients without worrying about our own safety.
The terrible event at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata, where a female doctor was allegedly raped on her way to work, made it clear that these kinds of steps are needed right away. The medical community is still very upset about what happened, and places like GMCH have been forced to move quickly.
The people in charge of the hospital have stressed that the new service is an active step towards making the workplace better. The Medical Superintendent at GMCH, Dr. Rajeev Patel, said, "The safety of our staff is our first priority. This new vehicle service is just one of many steps we are taking to address safety concerns." Our hope is that this effort will not only make people safer, but also make the workplace safer and friendlier.
The addition of this service is part of a larger trend in Indian hospitals and medical institutions that are becoming more aware of and responding to their staff's safety needs. It also shows that more and more people are realising how important it is to help healthcare workers who work hard and in tough conditions by putting in place practical safety measures.
When GMCH takes this big step forward, it shows other organisations how to do it too. By taking care of these important safety issues, hospitals can make sure that their employees are safe and also feel valued and supported in their jobs.
During these hard times, projects like these tell us how very important it is to protect those who spend their lives helping others. The new car service at GMCH is a good thing that will hopefully make things safer and give female doctors who work late at night much-needed peace of mind.
