In an odd turn of events close to the Thailand-Myanmar border, a 22-year-old Chinese man called Liu Chuanyi was freed from three days of captivity in a 12-meter-depth abandoned well. The event started when Liu, who had somehow been caught in the well, unable get out or draw attention for assistance. The people who lived close first turned away his cries, believing they were merely unusual, haunting sounds.
Liu's voice rang across the nearby woodland for three days, but nobody looked into it since residents thought they may be hearing ghostly activities. Liu's cries were lastly connected to the well only once local police were notified and sent a rescue squad. Though in a weakened position, he was hauled from the bottom of the well during the about thirty-minute rescue effort.
Liu turned up with a shattered wrist, a concussion, and many of fall-related injuries. He had survived days without food or water by yelling for aid once every hour, therefore saving his energy. Though his experience was far from finished, rescuers were amazed by his will and fortitude. Liu was safely removed and then hurried to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries.
The circumstances before Liu dropped into the well are yet unknown. Authorities think he might have been lost in the jungle and unintentionally dropped into the abandoned well searching for his way out. Anyone who would stray too near ran a great risk from the empty well left unattended for years. Local authorities have since sealed the well to stop any such mishaps.
